Ebike Rentals in Carnegie Hill, New York

Comments Off on Ebike Rentals in Carnegie Hill, New York

Ebikes, or electric bikes, are a hot new way to get around New York City. They are bicycles with a small electric motor that assist the rider upon pedaling. This makes for a fun and effortless ride no matter the terrain. The state of New York has laxed their laws with regards to ebikes, and now classifies them as normal bicycles. This means they can travel wherever a normal bike can go, whether on city streets or bike paths. However, children 14 years and younger must wear bike helmets.

Fortunately, you don’t have to buy one, you can rent them and have an amazing adventure. New York has a convenient bikeshare program called Citi Bike with several kiosk stations within the city. In Carnegie Hill, these stations are located on E 95th St. and 3rd Ave., E 91st St. and Park Ave., or E 88th St. and Park Ave.

How does this work? You can either register as an annual member or simply purchase a short-term pass via their Citi Bike App. Once this is done, you search the kiosk stations online for one that has an ebike available. Then you unlock it with a special code and ride for as long as your pass is active. The amazing thing about a bikeshare program is that you do not have to return the bike to the same station you’ve rented it from. If you find yourself elsewhere in the city, simply return your rental in an available spot at another nearby station! Nothing could be easier than that.

If you prefer to rent your ebike from a reputable bike shop, NYC Adventure Ebikes is only a few blocks away on Amsterdam Ave., just on the other side of Central Park from Carnegie Hill. This shop includes helmets with their rentals and has several options for how long you’d like to rent their ebikes. They are as follows:

$30 / 1 hour

$60 / 2 hours

$90 / 3 hours

$150 / All day

Where should you ride your newly rented ebike? We have a couple of fantastic suggestions. Obviously, you should do the Central Park Full Loop. At 6.1 miles, this ride is substantial enough to have a great amount of fun, while also seeing the beauty of New York’s famed Central Park. If you’ve never been here, you must see it for yourself. The park is a jewel within this bustling metropolis. Bike riders must ride the trail in a counterclockwise direction and remember that pedestrians always have the right-of-way.

Another great path is the Hudson River Greenway. At over 12 miles long, this nice and even bike path offers amazing vistas of the river and stunning views of New York’s architecture.

Wherever you decide to ride your ebike in NYC, you’ll have the time of your life!
