2020 is finally ending! Before a year that many would classify as a terror comes to a close, we can at least all still have some holiday cheer. Although many holiday traditions are being altered or skipped this holiday season, there is still cheer to be found! In many places, including Salt Lake City, a festive activity that is still socially-distant is viewing Christmas lights around the town.

Whatever you’re looking for this year, there are multiple options for a festive outing either walking outdoors or driving past in your car. Check out the list below for the top spots to get lost in the twinkle of Christmas lights!

  1. City Creek Center

Though City Creek is popular and therefore crowded at times, it is considered well-worth it by locals. Take a walk and take in the thousands of twinkling Christmas lights. And stop for a bite to eat or into a store to cross off some last-minute presents!

  1. Temple Square

SLC’s Temple is iconic for LDS members and non-member alike. With over a million lights around hundreds of trees, the Temple Square boasts one of the city’s most breathtaking displays of Christmas lights. They’ve bedecked the reflecting pool with floating lights, and be amazed by their life-size nativity. The Temple Square lights will be lit until January 1, from 5pm – 10pm, with the exception of December 13–15 (the nights of the Tabernacle Choir Concerts), when they turn off at 11pm, and New Years Eve, when they turn off at 12:30am.

  1. Draper City Park

Every year, the trees and bridges in Draper City Park come to life with holiday light—over 65,000 lights, to be exact. Don’t miss the huge, glowing willow tree in the middle of the park (though, honestly, it would be hard to miss). The lights come on at dusk and turn off at midnight.
