How much is parking at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport?

There are three options for parking at Sonoma County Airport – Short-term Parking, Long-term Parking Lot A, and Long-term Parking Lot B. All of these lots offer uncovered parking spaces. In Short-term, parking is free for the first 2 hours, then the rates are $1/30-minutes and $15/day. The rates for both of the Long-term Parking Lots are the same – free for the first 2 hours and $11/day.

There are no hourly parking rates in the Long-term Parking Lots.

Public/Ground Transportation

Public Transportation is usually a much cheaper option than parking your own vehicle at the airport. Because of its popularity as an airport, public transportation to/from STS is both reliable and a great option.

1.       Taxi/Shuttle Services: Asmara Taxi (707-703-8795) and Freedom Cab (707-477-3129) both operate at STS.

2.       Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit: Route 62 of SMART makes several stops at Sonoma County Airport and connects to Windsor Depot (North of the airport) and Santa Rosa Transit Mall (South of STS) as well. This transit system also connects several cities in Sonoma County, including Petaluma, Sonoma Valley, Windsor, Santa Rosa, and Guerneville. This is a great option for anyone traveling to STS from outside Santa Rosa. Fares are based upon zones. Traveling local is $1.50, traveling between 2 zones is $2.10, and travel across 3-5 zones is $3.00, $3.90, and $4.80, respectively. For more information, visit:

3.       Public Bus (Mendocino Transit Authority): Routes 65 and 95 have limited pick-ups and drop-offs at STS and are only available by request. The fares for this bus differ greatly depending on pick-up/drop-off locations. For more details on fares, visit:

Ride Sharing

While there are several, reasonably priced options for Public Transportation to STS, the convenience of ride sharing is hard to beat. Here is a quick look at standard prices to/from the nearby city of Santa Rosa.

A Lyft ride from STS to downtown Santa Rosa would cost $18-21 for a Standard and $28-32 for an XL. The trip to Santa Rosa takes approximately 14 minutes.

Uber prices are relatively similar. To downtown Santa Rosa from STS would cost $18-22 for UberX and $26-31 for UberXL.

2.       Long-term Parking Lot A & Lot B: there are two long-term parking lots at STS. Both offer the same rates. As in short-term, parking is free for the first 2 hours in both of these lots. After 2 hours, the rate is $11/day. There are no hourly rates in either of these lots.

Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport Fun Facts

The airport is named after the cartoonist of the beloved comic strip, Peanuts – Charles M. Schulz. He lived in Santa Rosa for over 30 years. In tribute to him, the airport’s logo shows the character Snoopy as a World War I flying-ace.

At the southeast corner of the airport sits the Pacific Coast Air Museum, adjacent to the hangar used in the 1963 film, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Also located at the airport is the Sonoma Air Attack Base for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
