Public/Ground Transportation

Public Transportation is usually a much cheaper option than parking your vehicle at the airport. Because Eastern Iowa Airport is one of the major airports of Iowa and is situated next to the 2nd largest city in the state, there are excellent public transportation options to and from CID.

1.      Public Bus: the City of Cedar Rapids transportation offers a route that connects Eastern Iowa Airport to downtown Cedar Rapids, including the Burlington Trailways Bus Depot. Route 11 operates weekdays from 5 am to 7 pm. The cash fare for adults is $1.50, students and seniors pay $0.75. Several bus passes are also available – a Day Pass is $3, 10 Ride Pass is $15, and 31 Day Passes are $40.

2.      Private Transportation Companies: ground transportation companies like Airport Express (319-626-5466), Anaman Concierge Services (319-471-2347), and Xquisite Limo (319-929-5466) offer rides to/from CID. These services must be pre-arranged with the individual companies.

3.      Taxi: several taxi companies operate throughout Cedar Rapids and surrounding towns. For a full list of taxis available, visit: https://flycid.com/ground-transportation/

Ride Sharing

The convenience of rideshare apps has made them increasingly popular as an alternative means of getting to the airport. Here is a quick look at standard prices for CID.

A Lyft ride from downtown Cedar Rapids to CID would cost $18-21 for a standard ride and $24-28 for an XL. The ride from downtown to CID takes 14 minutes. From nearby Iowa City, 27 minutes from the airport, prices are steeper at $32-36 for a standard ride and $50-55 for an XL.

Riding with Uber is slightly higher in price. Downtown to Eastern Iowa Airport prices ranges from $18 for an UberX and $27 for UberXL. An Uber from Iowa City to the airport costs $38 for an UberX and $60 for an UberXL.

Our On Air Parking deal comes out significantly cheaper for anyone coming to the airport from outside of Cedar while still providing the convenience, ease, and stress-free trip to the airport that we all want.

On Airport Parking at Eastern Iowa Airport

2.      Long-term Parking: this parking option is further from the terminal but still within walking distance. It is located behind short-term parking. Eastern Iowa Airport Fun Facts

The airport primarily serves regional jets. However, recently, Delta's Boeing 717s have begun operating connected to Atlanta, and United has Airbus 320s and Boeing 737s connecting to Denver.

Eastern Iowa Airport used to divide airline gates into two concourses (B) and (C). After a recent renovation, the gates in Concourse B were all removed, and three gates were added to Concourse C, making it the only concourse at the airport.

The airport was first called Hunter Field when it opened in the 1920s. It was primarily used for private charter services, pilot training, and airmail. At that time, additional services were difficult to provide during to its restrictions during bad weather.
