About Burbank

About Burbank

Burbank has long been known as the center for entertainment in Southern California and the entire world. This region of Los Angeles has thousands of production companies within, including Warner Bros., Walt Disney Studios, Nickelodeon, and Netflix. Nestled in the San Fernando Valley, Burbank’s population is just over 100,000 people.

Lockheed, the famed manufacturer of aircraft, set up shop in Burbank in the late 1920’s. So too did Walt Disney. In fact, Disney had originally proposed his theme park “Disneyland” be built in Burbank right next to the studios, but the city refused, not fully understanding the project and seeing it more as a carnival atmosphere than the theme park it’s known and loved for today.

The aviation industry also built an airport in Burbank, the Hollywood Burbank Airport, also known as Bob Hope Airport, or BUR. Which is quite convenient for the neighborhood as it saves travelers a drive out to LAX.

The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was filmed in Burbank, and this fantastic city was also the backdrop for the hit tv show, The Wonder Years. After taking over The Tonight Show, Jay Leno moved to Burbank, and Burbank is also the birthplace of many celebs, including Carrie Fisher, Tim Burton, Wil Wheaton, Clint Howard, and Rene Russo.
