There are three parking options at Long Beach Airport – Lot A, Lot B, and Valet Parking. For all three parking lots, the hourly rate is $2/hour. A Lot A, which is directly across from the terminal, the daily rate is $19/day, while Lot B's rate is $17/day. Valet Parking (which includes a complimentary car wash) costs $24/day.

Public/Ground Transportation

Public transportation is often a much more affordable option than leaving your car at the airport. Because of its location and long history, there are several public and ground transportation options to/from Long Beach Airport.

 

1. Metro Rail: the Wardlow Station is the closest Metro Rail station to Long Beach Airport. Metro Rail connects passengers with Downtown Los Angeles (7th St/Metro Center Station) and Long Beach Transit Buses at the Transit Mall. Wardlow Station is 7-miles from LGB, and the standard cab fare between the two locations is $13.35. The regular fare for the Metro Rail is $1.75 for a single-ride.

2. Long Beach Transit: public bus service for Long Beach. Several bus routes stop at Long Beach Airport, including Bus Route #102, #104, and #111. The fare for the bus $1.25.

3. Taxi: are available outside the terminal, next to Parking Lot A. The standard fare from LGB to Sand Pedro/Cruise Ships is $45. A trip to LAX from Long Beach is typically $60, while the usual fare to downtown Los Angeles is $72.

Ride Sharing

The convenience of rideshare apps makes them an ever-increasing option for anyone who does not want to take their car to the airport.

The rates below for Uber and Lyft have been calculated from two different locations: going to downtown Long Beach and going to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), because of LGB's central location in Orange and Los Angeles Counties. A ride from LGB to downtown Long Beach takes 17-minutes, and a ride to LAX takes 31-minutes.

Uber rates from LGB to downtown Long Beach is $12-14 for an UberX, while a ride to LAX from Long Beach Airport would cost $28-34.

Lyft prices are slightly higher. A trip from LGB to downtown Long Beach would cost $21-24 for a standard Lyft and $24-28 for an XL. A journey to LAX would be $40-45 for a standard and $55-60 for an XL.

Long Beach Airport Fun Facts

One of the local legends surrounding Long Beach Airport concerns Amelia Earhart. In 1920, during the newly-created Long Beach Airport's dedication, a young Amelia Earhart attended and caught the flying bug for the first time. Or so the legend goes.


The terminal that was built in 1941 is still standing today. Although it is not used as the main terminal for the airport, it is a Cultural Historic Landmark with historical exhibits about its rich aviation history.


In 2006, local legend and World War II hero Barbara London was honored by Long Beach Airport when they unveiled "Barbara London Drive," which sits between the two parking lots of LGB. Barbara London was a famous pilot in the Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) and later a commander for the WASPS. She was awarded the 'Air Medal' for her service and became the only WASP during World War II to receive such an honor.
