Valentine’s Day is coming up next month, but roses, chocolate, and Hallmark cards aren’t for everyone. If you’d rather round up your best gal pals and celebrate the joys of female friendship on Galentine’s Day, read on, because we’ve rounded up five fun ways to celebrate with your girls this year in Orlando!
The Ravenous Pig
If you and your gals want to be fancy, a classic way to spend the evening is dinner and drinks at a renowned restaurant. For one of the most accoladed restaurants in the Orlando area, you’ll want to head to The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park. This stylish gastropub is owned by a husband-and-wife chef duo who have been semi-finalists for a James Beard award for four years running. In addition to delicious food, they also serve craft beer brewed on-site and cocktails. If you want to be there on the 13th or 14th, they’re showing the movie Ghost outdoors in their beer garden with a fixed 3-course menu.
Nikki’s Place Southern Cuisine
If you’re looking for a more mom-and-pop type restaurant, Nikki’s Place is the place to go. This Black-owned Orlando staple was founded by Nick Aiken, who has been working in the food industry since 1952! Due to the pandemic, they are currently offering takeout and curbside pickup only but it’s definitely worth going and seeing why they won an Orlando Sentinel Foodie Award. The restaurant specializes in creating a true southern experience with its food, so go there and pick up some “cooking for the people” to feed your party guests.
Lake Lily Park
If you’re trying to be safe due to COVID-19, an outdoor celebration is the way to go. And the great news in Florida is, even in February, a picnic is a fun way to connect with your gals and soak up some sunshine. The perfect location is just outside downtown Orlando, at Lake Lily Park, so named for the beautiful lily pads dotting the lake. This lovely 10-acre park has plenty of benches and a gazebo where you can set up camp. After you eat, take a stroll on the boardwalk around the lake and try to spot some fish, ducks, and turtles!
Andretti Indoor Karting & Games
If your friends aren’t content to just sit around and chat, you’re going to want an activity to get everyone moving. And at Andretti, activities abound! Inside, you can choose from go-karting, bowling, laser tag, rope courses, and an arcade. Make a full night of it by dining at their restaurant, Andretti Grill, while you’re there.
The Courtesy Bar
If you want something unique to do, enroll your party in a cocktail class at The Courtesy Bar. You’ll learn the history behind three classic cocktails while you’re taught the proper way to make them. And of course, you get to drink them, too! Classes are offered the first and third Saturday evening of the month (and fill up quickly) or, with a minimum of 13 people, you can book a private class on one of the other Saturdays.
