4. Black American West Museum
The Black American West Museum is one of the oldest museums in Denver. Founded in 1971, its collection centers around the uncovering of hidden, yet significant fragments of the Old West. In the Old West, one in every three cowboys was African American, a fact not covered in most history books. This unique museum houses an array of artifacts originally taken from western estates together with the enticing biographies of prominent Black American community leaders of the Old West.
5. Mile High Marketplace
The Mile High Marketplace is a huge flea marketplace that features a variety of shops and antiques, and an entertainment center. This is the largest outdoor shopping place in Denver that is open year round. So, if you want to do some pocket-friendly shopping, this is the perfect place for you. The Mile High Marketplace is located just northeast of Denver and is open every weekend from Friday to Sunday.
6. Denver Pavilions
The Denver Pavilions is located in Downtown Denver right on the 16th street mall. Home to many different boutique shops, restaurants and entertainment places such as nightclubs and a movie theater, the Pavilion is the perfect place to visit on the weekends.
7. Denver Zoo
Visiting the Denver Zoo is another excellent way of spending your day in this big city. Known for showcasing a wide range of habitat, including tropical forests and jungles, there are exhibits on the African savanna to those of the polar ice caps. What makes the Denver Zoo a unique attraction is the over 4,000 animal species, some of which are exotic, that is housed there.
