If you’re looking for your next great family adventure, or someplace different to take the kids, we have you covered. Spending a day out with the kids is a great way to recapture your own childlike curiosity and love of play, so we’ve included plenty of options that will make the adults as happy as the kids. Below are some of the best, most unique, and most beloved things to do with your kids in Atlanta.
The Roof at Ponce City Market
On the roof of one of Atlanta’s favorite markets, you’ll find Skyline Park, a Coney Island-style amusement park. You and the kids can enjoy mini-golf (with gorgeous views of the Atlanta skyline in the distance), play basketball, skeeball, and more. Or, if you’re a family of thrill-seekers, you’ll enjoy a ride on the Heege Tower or down the three-story slide at Skyline Park. A trip here makes for an afternoon of laughter and friendly family competition. Plus, there is an abundance of delicious snacks and food to munch on as well.
Outdoor, obstacle course adventure at its finest! Treetop Quest offers ziplines and obstacle courses through the trees. There are several levels available, starting with the Chick Pea Course for ages 4-6 and going up to Level 4 for ages 12+ (the most challenging with both ziplining and obstacles). Stopping at Treetop Quest is a great way for the family to enjoy nature while also experiencing some fun thrills! Make sure to book tickets in advance for the best experience.
Center for Puppetry Arts
Kids can enjoy the magic and silliness of puppetry at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. It is the largest organization focusing on the art of puppetry in the United States. The Center offers performances, educational workshops, and is also home to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum. The shows at the Center are intricate and offer something for everyone – whether it’s a performance of a nursery rhyme, a Halloween puppet show, or a show about pirates!
Adventure Air Sports
Adventure Air Sports is also known as a “Family Entertainment Center”, making it a great place for both you and the kids. If you’re looking for something to do outside the usual trip to the park, then you’ll love the trampoline court, indoor zip line, and Ninja Warrior obstacle course available at Adventure Air Sports. If you go with a large group of kids and friends, you can also try dodgeball or jump in the foam pit. This place is perfect for larger groups.
A trip to the zoo is always a family favorite. Kids will love the petting zoo, the zoo train, and riding the endangered species carousel. You can choose to wander the zoo yourselves, marveling at all the animals, or take part in one of several Children’s Activities offered by the zoo. Try feeding the goats for only 50 cents. Whatever adventure you choose, the kids are sure to have fun while learning about the world around them.
