Valentine’s Day is coming up next month, but roses, chocolate, and Hallmark cards aren’t for everyone. If you’d rather round up your best gal pals and celebrate the joys of female friendship on Galentine’s Day, read on because we’ve rounded up five fun ways to celebrate with your girls this year in Atlanta!
If you and your gals want to be fancy, a classic way to spend the evening is dinner and drinks at Bacchanalia. You’ll need to make a reservation to dine at this white-tableclothed, farm-to-table spot, but it will be very worth it when you start in on their season, four-course, prix fixe menu. Bacchanalia has earned a reputation as one of Atlanta’s best restaurants since opening in 1993, including coming in as a James Beard Semifinalist in 2015 and being voted best restaurant by Atlanta magazine. As you may have guessed, a night out here is best reserved for a crowd that feels like splurging.
Silver Skillet Restaurant
If you’re looking for a more offbeat yet down-to-earth restaurant, try the Silver Skillet, which has the quaint feel of a 1950s diner and a menu to match. Don’t let that fool you though, because it’s been serving up amazing food like its award-winning Lemon Icebox Pie since 1956. Multiple TV shows have been filmed on location here, and the gallery on the restaurant’s website is brimming with happy celebrities like Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Gosling.
If you’re trying to be safe due to COVID-19, an outdoor celebration is the way to go. And even in February, a picnic is a fun way to connect with your gals! The best local park for your Galentine’s picnic is Piedmont Park. It’s centrally located and has been Atlanta’s “common ground” since 1904. You can reserve a picnic shelter or the bandstand for a large group here or bring a blanket, fire up one of the grills on-site, and enjoy the views of the skyline. When you’re all finished eating, stroll over to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, located adjacent to the park.
The Painted Pin
If your friends aren’t content to just sit around and chat, you’re going to want an activity to get everyone moving. Located in a cool warehouse space, The Painted Pin has you covered. This boutique bowling bar has something for everyone, too. In addition to bowling, you can play bocce ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, skeeball, and more! Depending on the size of your group (and budget) you can even book an event and reserve 8 lanes for your party.
Pole Waxers University
Are you looking for something completely unique to try? How about dropping in on a pole dancing class? Pole Waxers University is a community of strong women whose goal is to have fun with no judgments. You and your gals can drop in on a beginner class, head there on a Saturday for “girls’ night” (which is open to the public), or book a pole party.
