4 Fun Things to do with Kids near Carnegie Hill in NYC

If you’re looking for your next great family adventure, or someplace different to take the kids, we have you covered. Spending a day out with the kids is a great way to recapture your own childlike curiosity and love of play, so we’ve included plenty of options that will make the adults as happy as the kids. Below are some of the best, most unique, and most beloved things to do with your kids near Carnegie Hill in New York City.

The Gaga Center

The Gaga Center is home to a brand-new style game known as Gaga. It is played in an octagonal pit with a foam ball and combines dodging, jumping, striking, and running. Going to play at the Gaga Center is great for larger families or multiple families. Kids will love the high-paced energy of the game and so will the adults. It’s excellent for a little friendly competition and the place to go on a day when you’re not quite sure what to do. Instructors are available to teach you the game; you can schedule a private arena or register to come during “Open Gaga”.

Bird Watching on Bird House Row

In 2016, over 20 colorful, handcrafted birdhouses began popping up on E 83rd Street. They were recently taken down by a vandal, but after an outpouring of upset from locals, the Block Association began a new project to replace them. You and the kids can walk the Upper East Side neighborhood of New York and go bird-watching. Some birdhouses are elaborate castles, others quaint cottages, and others still are designed to look like RVs, but they are all colorful, quirky, and very unique.

Let’s Dress Up

Let’s Dress Up is a Princess dress-up wonderland. You can sign your kids up for a 90-minute “Princess Play” session that includes choosing from a wide selection of glamorous princess dresses, jewelry, and, of course, tiaras. The Princess Play also includes a themed tea party, storytime, coloring, and a little dance party. Let’s Dress Up is also available for birthday parties and holds special events on holidays, including Saint Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras, and New Year’s.

Jan’s Hobby Shop

Jan’s Hobby Shop is a mainstay in the neighborhood of Carnegie Hill and is a wonderful place to explore as a family. You’ll find model trains, paint kits, model ships and planes, puzzles, and more. The kids can find a new hobby or project, maybe even something you can do together.
