Chicago is one of the busiest and most metropolitan cities in the country, so for residents to see it turn into a near ghost town during much of this past year has been a huge adjustment for many. Happily, some businesses are starting to open back up, and below we are going to take a look at what is open in Chicago, IL, during the coronavirus.
- AMC RIVER EAST 21
Finding a movie theater that is open at the moment isn’t easy, because of the nature of movie theaters, not all of them can accommodate the new regulations, nor is it financially beneficial given how few people are currently going. However, the movie theater AMC River East 21 is open and showing a variety of new and old movies every day.
- MR CARPET SHOP AT HOME
For something a little different, but equally as necessary for people at some point, is this family-owned business. As always it is great to support local businesses in the community as they start to open at this time, so for anyone needing new carpets, this is a good first stop.
All museums that are open are now enforcing a limited capacity, prebooked tickets, and face masks at all times, however, this certainly doesn’t detract from the fantastic day out you can have. Chicago has some of the best museums in the country, and anyone who loves to spend their time exploring them can now get back to having fun. The Field Museum and the Museum Campus are just two of the excellent range to choose from.
Florists opening has been great news all round, this is the type of business that is usually exclusively operated by one person or a family, so being able to shop in places that are supporting small and independent businesses is a great joy at the moment. By and large, most of the florists in the city are now reopened, so bear that in mind the next time you want something to brighten up your home or need to cheer up a friend or relative.
Learning to cook, or spending more time in our own kitchens during this time might have been good at first, fun even, but I’m sure most people are ready for a break. Fortunately, restaurants across the city are starting to reopen, and in the very least are now offering delivery or takeout. If you wish to have a dine-in experience, you should call ahead first to see if that is possible. Check out the top restaurants in the city below, so you can make your next meal out a great one.
- Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio
