2020 was memorable – or should we say infamous for the disasters it brought. Before the notoriously terrible year comes to a close, the holidays are here along with hopes for holiday cheer. Although many holiday traditions are being altered or skipped this holiday season, there is still cheer to be found! In many places, including Philadelphia, a festive activity that is still socially-distant is viewing Christmas lights around the town.
Whatever you’re looking for this year, there are multiple options for a festive outing either walking outdoors or driving past in your car. Check out the list below for the top spots to get lost in the twinkle of Christmas lights!
- Philadelphia Holiday Tree
The city’s official holiday tree for the 2020 season is trimmed with more than 4,000 lights and decorations on the north side of the building. The tree is also supported by a custom-made steel base with designs representing signature Philadelphia landmarks, portions of the city’s skyline and more than 20 of Philadelphia’s diverse neighborhoods.
- Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show at Franklin Square
Franklin Square is known for its whimsy, but this Christmas, they pull out all the stops! The Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show is presented by PECO with the magic of wonder and lights from November 19-December 31, 2020. Inspired by the amazing genius of Benjamin Franklin and his “electrifying” discovery, the Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show is fun for the whole family in Franklin Square. Every 30 minutes, this free show dazzles the eyes and the spirit with over 100,000+ lights synchronized to your favorite holiday music.
