Have you ever wondered why & how there is a longest and shortest day of the year? And what is an equinox? In this interactive session, students will learn the science behind these annual events and then explore constellations they can see in the night sky at those times of the year. They will explore the myths or stories behind specific constellations in the night sky and will work with their own cluster of stars to create a constellation and story to go with it.

The Clayton Harvest Festival has roots dating back to 1951 when the Clayton Merchant’s Association (now CCOC) hosted Clayton’s first festival, the Cotton Festival. With over 31,000 in attendance, today’s five-day festival incorporates a midway full of carnival rides, car show, Latin American Festival, Squealin’ on the Square, and other community-focused events, vendors, food, music, and fun. CCOC will be preserving the integrity of the regularly scheduled festival at the 2021 Spring Fling Festival in April 2021.
