Brannan Island State Recreation Area

Enjoy the countless islands and marshes at this northern California confluence of the San Joaquin River Delta, boating, windsurfing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding galore. Those looking for a place to enjoy the famously active waters of northern California during their stay in the Sacramento area will love the Brannan Island State Recreation Area where they can enjoy a number of outdoors activities among a variety of stunning scenes and with many well equipped campsites. 

William Land Park

The William Land Park is a great “anytown, USA” attraction for visitors wanting a casual photoshoot, great for families and couples, and offering plenty of options among its different corners. This is a great option for those travelers who cannot go too far from the Sacramento area on their itinerary.

University of California, Davis Arboretum

Another one of Sacramento’s better kept secrets is the University of California, Davis campus’s Arboretum, a great getaway from your getaway featuring a number of colorful flowerbeds, forests, and gardens of native and exotic flora. This is a great setting for travelers of all ages and interests, and most famously, featuring a Redwood Grove! This is a solid option to tour some of California and the nation’s most celebrated landscapes all in one place.

Park Winters

This northern California getaway features a variety of gardens, wooded areas, wide fields, views of mountains, rural surroundings, a picturesque pool, and last but not least, the grand Park Winters estate. This is more suited to larger groups and more formal projects, hosting large events and gatherings such as weddings. This is one of the Sacramento area’s more majestic faces, and is a thirty minute drive from Sacramento, not too far from the bustle of the city but far enough to offer the peace of the countryside. This also doubles as a great venue far from the urbanized portions of northern California to enjoy stargazing, and is a strong option to consider for those larger parties visiting the Sacramento area.
