Valentine’s Day is coming up next month, but roses, chocolate, and Hallmark cards aren’t for everyone. If you’d rather round up your best gal pals and celebrate the joys of female friendship on Galentine’s Day, read on, because we’ve rounded up five fun ways to celebrate with your girls this year in Seattle!
A classic way to celebrate Galentine’s with your friends is dinner and drinks at a famous restaurant. That’s tricky at the moment with current regulations due to the pandemic, however, one of the most accoladed restaurants in Seattle is finding a clever workaround with curbside pickup options. Canlis is a Seattle landmark, having been a fine-dining destination since the 1950s! It was nominated last year for the James Beard award for Hospitality and serves high-end Pacific Northwest style fare. If you happen to hold an American Express card, you can eat onsite by reserving one of their private yurts.
Sisters and Brothers Bar
If you’re looking for a more mom-and-pop type restaurant, Sisters and Brothers is the place to go. It’s even been featured by Guy Fieri on his show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! This place is a “family affair” and serves up yummy Southern fare -especially hot, Nashville-style chicken. They’re currently open for take-out only due to the pandemic, but that includes cocktails, so make sure to wash it all down with a margarita (or two, we won’t tell).
Golden Gardens Park
If you’re trying to be safe due to COVID-19, an outdoor celebration is the way to go. And even in February, a picnic is a fun way to connect with your gals. Just bring a waterproof tarp for under your picnic blanket, some cozy blankets to snuggle in, and a thermos of hot cocoa! For the best location, have your gal pals meet you at Golden Gardens Park. You’ll enjoy lovely panoramic views of the Puget Sound. After you’re done eating, take a hike on of the many trails or a stroll along the beach.
Savor Seattle Food Tours
If your friends aren’t content to just sit around and chat, you’re going to want an activity to get everyone moving. How about killing two birds with one stone by eating your way through Seattle on a food tour? Savor Seattle Food Tours has lots of options for enjoying the great cuisine of the town, learning about local vendors, and getting exercise and fresh air while you’re at it. A good one to try for Galentine’s Day is their VIP Early Access Tour of Pike Place Market, which lets you see this Seattle landmark before it gets too busy.
Hot Tub Boats
If you want something unique to do, rent a hot tub boat. Yep, you read that right. It’s a boat with a hot tub in it! It also comes with joystick navigation, blue tooth speakers, and storage space for food and drinks. You and your gals can relax in warm water while enjoying the gorgeous scenery of the sound at the same time! All the boats are built locally and according to US Coast Guard reservations for safety. The only requirement to rent one is a valid US driver’s license.
