Due to Covid-19 and the public health initiatives during this global pandemic, the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C. is closed until further notice. However, if you’d like to still see what the animals are up to, one of the best ways is to keep an eye on their Facebook page. The keepers at the zoo are excellent at posting new videos during the zoo’s closure to keep the public apprised of what the animals are up to. At this time, there is no plans to reopen the zoo, so keeping up with the animals via these videos is the way to go.
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s website also has live webcams where you can tune in and have a look at what all the animals are doing while the zoo remains closed.
If you’d like to donate to the zoo during this time of closure, you can visit their website and make your donation directly. These donations go to the upkeep of the zoo as well as the care of the animals. They might not be able to open yet to the public, but these animals still need care, food, and shelter, so donate if you can!
You might like to receive zoo news, of which you can sign up to receive it in your inbox on their website! You can sign up for National Zoo news, receive giant panda updates, or learn more about how to become a member of the National Zoo.

This is not only a fun way to support the zoo, but this is a great gift to give to the animal lover in your family, or to a child on their birthday. Nothing is as exciting as knowing you have symbolically adopted an animal at the zoo!Even with the National Zoo closed, you can still purchase your souvenirs online.
