Sea Life Grapevine
Located in vibrant Grapevine Mills, Sea Life Grapevine is a great choice for families and groups of varying ages to enjoy the wonders of aquatic life. Iconic species such as the green sea turtle, great Pacific octopus, lined seahorse, and jellyfish live together and in their own immersive exhibits. One of the more notable features of Sea Life Grapevine is its dedication to sea turtle rescue and recovery, especially given the size and location of the aquarium. Visitors can witness the work that goes into caring and releasing sea turtles at Sea Life Grapevine’s Sea Turtle Rescue Center, and for those with a special interest in marine science and aquariums, behind-the-scenes tours are available by appointment. Aside from this, there are also interactive rock pools where visitors can personally touch tidal life, an immersive 360-degree ocean tunnel (including Sharks!), an Amazonian rainforest exhibit, and a stingray exhibit.
SeaQuest Fort Worth
SeaQuest Fort Worth is another great family experience, although it is more centered on putting YOU inside the action with a distinct value on offering interactive activities. The habitats and human cultures associated with ecosystems from over the world are celebrated here as much as the stars of said exhibits. These include caimans, reef sharks, stingrays, Asian otters, and myriad tropical fishes, as well as a number of land animals among the resident 1200 animals. Some of the unique experiences here include snorkeling with stingrays, playing with Asian small-clawed otters, and your own doctor fish pedicure.
Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park
Since 1936, the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park has been a local mission to inspire and educate the youth of the Dallas area about aquatic life and the duties that come with protecting it. Here, children and adult visitors alike can meet alligators, snapping turtles, piranhas, electric eels, archerfish, jewel moray eels, cownose rays, and nurse sharks, among many other species. Overnight parties and parties for groups are available by appointment, as well as many opportunities to have an employee personally host a Q&A session between you and any animal of interest.
While not specifically an aquarium, the Dallas Zoo is noteworthy for its inclusion of many iconic aquatic animals including the Nile crocodile, African penguin, hippopotamus, and Galapagos tortoise. Aside from the wealth of festive rides, games, and numerous land animals, the zoo is also notable for its commitment to education. Keeper chats about the lifestyle and care of any animal are available every day of the week.
Fort Worth Zoo
Another Zoo with a commendable amount of aquatic animals is the Fort Worth Zoo, with reef sharks, spotted wobbegong, saltwater crocodile, and hippopotamus, just to name a few. Virtual and in-person shows about the lives of these many species and their lovable antics are regular throughout the day.
