We’ve all watched the annual New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square on television at some point. Lights, glitter, and spicy musical acts. The shiny disco ball waiting at the top of its poll waiting to drop down and propel us into a new year, the confetti drop at midnight as the camera pans over the crowd, catching couples getting a new year’s smooch. Have you ever considered spending New Year’s Eve in New York and celebrating in person? We’ve done some research and picked a few of the best places to stay in the city for the big night.

The Knickerbocker

If huge crowds aren’t your thing and you prefer to stay inside where it’s warm, you might consider The Knickerbocker hotel. Located in the center of Times Square, The Knickerbocker offers unparalleled views of the famous Waterford Crystal Ball. You’ll be just 150 feet away as you watch the shiny ball of light begin its descent at 11:59 pm.

Choose from several different packages to book your New Year’s Eve stay. Packages vary, but include perks such as luxury accommodations, an extensive selection of high quality eats, entertainment, and, of course, an open bar. Dance into the new year at the rooftop cocktail party (included with all packages) and a complimentary champagne toast of Dom Pérignon at midnight.

For those who prefer a more intimate celebration, reserve exclusive Sky Box seats overlooking the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in the world. Private, illuminated seats have a direct view of the ball drop. You’ll have access to your own butler and be pampered to your heart’s content. Indulge in a banquet dinner to kick off the evening. You’ll have a specialized selection of hors d’oeuvres for your small party to enjoy. Not a fan of chilly weather? You’re covered at the Knickerbocker. Velour throw blankets, space heaters and hand warmers are available to keep you warm and toasty throughout the night.

Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square

The Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square is brand new and the first of the new portfolio by Hilton. This hotel is located within the forty-six-story TSX Broadway tower in the center of Times Square. Modern suites have direct views of the ball drop, which happens right below! The hotel also hosts a New Year’s Eve celebration inside the hotel restaurant and cocktail bar, Highball. You’ll get hors d’oeuvres, upbeat music, and an open bar.

If you’re looking for something to do before the celebration, the hotel is located in the heart of Times Square and is just minutes away from restaurants and attractions such as Broadway theaters, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, and Grand Central Station. The hotel includes a fitness center, just in case you need to work off some of those holiday treats.

Is the thought of leaving your furry best friend behind a bummer? Well, great news: your pet is welcome to join you! Keep in mind if you’re staying for New Year’s Eve, a deposit equal to one night’s stay is required at booking.

New York Marriott Marquis

The New York Marriott Marquis is right in the heart of the action. This hotel is the perfect place to celebrate and bring in the new year with a bang. You’ll have premium views as the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve main stage is located just below. The hotel even offers a family friendly celebration. Bring the littles along to celebrate with mocktails and kiddie classics like mac & cheese and sliders.

You’ll be able to relax in spacious accommodations with spectacular views of the ball drop at midnight. Be sure to book early to get one of the premium ball-drop rooms. These rooms have floor to ceiling windows offering views of Times Square that are unmatched. Be sure to book well in advance. Note that there is a three-night minimum stay for these rooms and you may not check in on the 31st.

If you’d rather be where the people are, celebrate the new year at the Lounge New Year’s Eve party. There are plenty of experiences to choose from when you stay at this hotel.
