There is nothing more refreshing and soothing to the soul than a picnic in the sun, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Every city in the United States has incredible locations for picnicking. Below are 5 Great Places to Picnic in Dallas or Forth Worth.

White Rock Lake Park

Follow White Rock Lake Trail for a relaxing stroll on the water. There are plenty of vistas to stop for a picnic along the way. White Rock Lake is a large, manmade lake north of downtown Dallas. The park is ideal for boating, birdwatching, taking long walks along the trails, and is an absolutely gorgeous spot for picnicking. On the Southeast corner of the park sits the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Although this portion of the park does have an entry fee, it makes for an excellent day of nature exploration, coupled with a picnic on the lawn overlooking White Rock Lake.

Flag Pole Hill Park

This hilltop park is near White Rock Lake, and actually overlooks the lake itself. High on the hill you find gorgeous views of White Rock Lake as well as views of the city of Dallas. This park was designed for public recreation with exciting playgrounds for the kids and plenty of benches and picnics tables for the family. It is also a favored spot for kite-flying. So, whether you’re flying a kite yourself or simply enjoying the colorful manmade birds soaring through the sky, there is something magical about a picnic at Flag Pole Hill Park.

Fort Worth Water Gardens

This is an utterly unique park to visit. Although it is smaller, only 4.3 acres large, it boasts some absolutely fantastic water features that are a delight to explore. There are waterfalls, pools, and fountains. The largest is made of descending, granite steps with waterfalls that form a large pool at the bottom. Visitors are able to walk along steppingstones to the bottom of this waterfall. Enjoy a picnic on the steps at the top of this water feature or on a bench near one of the pools. This park makes for a fun, urban-style picnic and though it’s not great for open-lawn picnicking, the uniqueness and wonder created by the designs of this park put it on the list for best picnic locations.

Trinity Park

A 252 acre park in Forth Worth, Trinity Park is extremely beloved. It is home to Dream Park Playground, a charming pond with a fishing pier, and long trails for leisurely strolls. The park sits along the Clear Fork Trinity River and has several pavilions scattered along its trails. Trinity is great for taking a peaceful walk before finding the perfect bench, perfect pavilion, or perfect tree alongside the river. There are also plenty of ducks to feed.

Burger’s Lake

For those who like to enjoy a good meal after a long day of swimming and splashing under the sun, Burger’s Lake is the place to be. A large, lifeguarded lake covers the majority of the park with beaches and picnic tables for the whole family. There is a small entry fee for the lake, but it is a great way to spend the day with kids or with a group of friends.
