If you’re looking for your next great family adventure, or someplace different to take the kids, we have you covered. Spending a day out with the kids is a great way to recapture your own childlike curiosity and love of play, so we’ve included plenty of options that will make the adults as happy as the kids. Below are some of the best, most unique, and most beloved things to do with your kids in Denver.

Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park

The perfect combination for a family day out – an amusement and water park. “On land” the park has thrill rides, family rides, and kids’ rides (something for everyone). There are also plenty of classic carnival games and arcades. Then, if you’re in the mood for splashing around, the waterpark has both thrill water slides for the older kids and family slides for the younger ones.

Dinosaur Ridge

At Dinosaur Ridge, you and the kids can become paleontologists for the day – hunting for dinosaur fossils and bones in the same place where the first stegosaurus discovery was made. There are designated dig sites for kids, Dino Discover Days that will take the kids on a fun, educational tour along the trail, and awesome fossils on display in the exhibits at the Discovery Center. Any fan of dinosaurs will fall in love with Dinosaur Ridge.

Denver Firefighters Museum

The place to go with any kid that dreams of being a firefighter. Denver has a long, rich history when it comes to firefighting – dating back to the mid-1800s – and much of this history comes to life through the artifacts on display in the museum. You can choose to take a self-guided or guided tour through their many exhibits. They also offer children’s firefighter camps & classes.

Casa Bonita

Dinner and a show – the “greatest show in Denver” according to Casa Bonita, and they’d be right. This is a place both you and the kids will love. Pageantry is on full display in Casa Bonita, through both its incredible décor and its stage shows. The main attraction of the restaurant is a 30-ft waterfall off of which daring cliff divers perform stunts. Casa Bonita also offers puppet shows and fantastic live music. You will all leave with huge smiles on your faces.

Children’s Museum of Denver @ Marisco Campus

Located on a 9-acre campus, the Children’s Museum of Denver is a place that should definitely be added to the list of family outings. They offer more than 20 interactive exhibits and special programs designed to help children grow and learn while having a wonderful time. The Museum’s exhibits are divided into four categories: investigate, explore, imagine, and create. In “Imagine” they can play in Fire Station No. 1, or travel to “Explore” and the Adventure Forest.
