Do You have #Wanderlust? Here’s a Few Tips for You

Do you have #Wanderlust? First of all, what is wanderlust? To put it simply, the dictionary defines wanderlust as the desire to travel and go on adventures. Bilbo Baggins of the acclaimed Lord of the Rings series had wanderlust bad, from lamenting to see mountains again to allowing the road to take him where it would. Does that sound familiar to you? Are you always lamenting that you’re not on some vibrant excursion abroad?

Quite often we feel trapped or suppressed by staying in one place all the time and want to get out to see the world. This desire has been all too realized during the Covid-19 quarantine of 2020. Now that the world is opening back up again, we are once again free to wander about the world to our heart’s content.

Buy Travel Books

Whether they’re travel guides or books written by authors who travel, it’s always a good idea to look ahead and plan before we wander to and fro. We’ll need to make a budget, decide where we’re going, and what sights we want to see along the way. By purchasing travel books, you’ll get a feel for where you’d like to go and what you’d like to see rather than randomly picking a place on the map. You can do that too, however, you likely won’t have as much fun as you would if you first make a travel plan.

Get Off the Beaten Path

No matter where you decide to go, there will always be your famous tours, monuments, and historical homes to see. These things are not bad in and of themselves, but sometimes it can be the unexpected places that bring the most adventure. Where is the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant to eat in the city? What’s the insider information that only the locals know? Where are the hidden gems that might not have the fancy tours and famous history behind them? Make your travels interesting by seeking out these lesser-known destinations.

Explore Your Own City

When’s the last time you took a good look at where you live and poked around the sights? Have you found the treasures tucked away behind the more well-known destinations? Is there somewhere you can go within driving distance that might satisfy your wanderlust for adventure? Some hike you’ve never been on, a waterfall you’ve never seen, a garden that blooms but once a year? These things can not only help you love where you live but it will also save you money in the long run. If you can find adventure locally, you won’t need to purchase expensive plane tickets to travel to your desired destinations.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to satiating your wanderlust. Whether locally or abroad, you’ll be able to seek and find astounding things wherever you happen to be. Make sure you have a plan beforehand and look for interesting and intriguing destinations. Have a look around your own city and find yourself an adventure!
