If you’re looking for your next great family adventure, or someplace different to take the kids, we have you covered. Spending a day out with the kids is a great way to recapture your own childlike curiosity and love of play, so we’ve included plenty of options that will make the adults as happy as the kids. Below are some of the best, most unique, and most beloved things to do with your kids in Seattle.

Artists at Play Playground

Taking your kids to the playground just got a little more exciting with the Artist at Play Playground. The outdoor play area, near the Museum of Pop Culture, combines incredibly fun playground equipment with musical instruments. There is a 30-foot climbing tower, sound swings, musical instruments to play with, a carousel, and more. This is a place to take the kids that they may never want to leave and gives you a place to go that isn’t your typical park/playground.

The Seattle Great Wheel

One of Seattle’s most famous sites/attractions is not to be missed. The kids will love this 53-meter tall, ginormous Ferris Wheel. The Wheel is located on Elliot Bay, Pier 57, which means it has incredible views of the city, the harbor, and the bay. Everyone will enjoy themselves as the Wheel takes you higher and higher. And when you’re done, I recommend spending some time exploring Pier 57. Additionally, it is best to book tickets in advance for the Great Wheel.

Seattle Children’s Museum

Located between the Space Needle and the Space Center is the Seattle Children’s Museum. The Museum offers dozens of interactive exhibits and special programs designed to help children grow and learn while having a wonderful time. Some of the popular exhibits are “The Market” (a role-playing supermarket), the “Imagination Studio” (where art products of every kind are brought to life), and the “Bijou Theatre”, (a puppet theatre with regular shows for the kids). There is something for everyone at the Seattle Children’s Museum and it is an especially great place for anyone with toddlers or younger kids.

Alki Beach Park

If you’re looking to spend some time at the beach as a family, then Alki Beach Park is the place to go. Located on Elliot Bay, the Park is known for its long expanses of sandy beaches and views of the Seattle Skyline (and Space Needle) in the distance. There are walkways, benches and picnic tables, and sand volleyball courts to enjoy. If you and the kids enjoy surfing, swimming, or playing in the sand, then you’ll love Alki Beach Park.

Woodland Park Zoo

A trip to the zoo is always a family favorite. Travel through the African Savanna, Tropical Rainforest, and Temperate Forest and you’ll see amazing animals from all over the world. Kids will especially love the Family Farm and the Zoomazium, an indoor nature-themed play area. You can choose to wander the zoo yourselves, take a premium animal tour, go see the WildLanterns Light Festival, or even register to take part in an animal encounter. But no matter which adventure you choose, the kids are sure to have fun while learning about the world around them.
