So whether you’re planning a visit, returning home to see friends and family, or a local looking for things to do around home, read on for some of our favorite places to take pictures and capture the most of your memories here around the mile high city.
The Big Blue Bear
This entry to our list is probably the easiest to explain, as it is exactly what it sounds like from the name, a giant forty foot bear looking into the Denver Convention Center. The stunning size and appeal of this local gentle giant makes for a great subject on its own, or as the conversation-starting companion to any photoshoot.
Denver Botanic Gardens
For a true variety of naturally gorgeous backdrops, look no further than the Denver Botanic Gardens! Here, visitors can delight in the beauty of the Japanese Garden, a covered tropical greenhouse, the stunning architecture of the greenhouses and science pyramids, Chihuly Sculptures, tulip fields, water art installations, lily ponds and more! This lends itself to a number of projects, whether formal couples’ shoots, family photos, solo shots, or a number of creative and nature photography.
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater
This being Colorado, we couldn’t leave out one of the biggest celebrities of the region, the Red Rocks Amphitheater! This is one of the more famous ways to make it very clear to all that in fact, you were in Denver! The dramatic landscape of the Rockies and this theater is a great setting for all of your creative projects, and a way to see so much of Colorado’s natural beauty along the way.
South Mesa Trailhead
For breathtaking natural backdrops, tall grasses, towering trees and the natural colors of the Denver area, bring the whole party to the South Mesa Trailhead. This park is wildly popular for the diversity of ecosystems and scenes along its trails, appropriate for couples, family and solo shoots as well as a number of nature photography, where the resident population of deer, bears, mountain lions and coyotes also serve time to time as subjects.
This grand and beautiful park features the timeless Cheesman Pavilion, and a number of gardens and flower beds. This is great for those photographs needing a wide berth, or for large groups commemorating their visit to Denver. Whether as a casual daytime affair or dressed formally for a special occasion, Cheesman Park accommodates a wide number of projects.
