Jacksonville. This corner of Florida expresses its one-of-a-kind character in its unique heritage of the outdoors, multiple historic periods, and a distinctly ‘Jax’ identity that manifests in the music of today. Indeed, with all that has imbued generations of Jacksonville residents with special energy and inspiration, this is also true for the sights visitors and locals alike can find here during autumn. Read on for some of our favorite autumn festivals and events here around Jacksonville.

Wasabicon

Visitors can embrace their ‘geeky’ side at Wasabicon, Jacksonville’s annual gathering of all things pop culture! This event assembles fans with performers, actors, authors and artists in a variety of interests from gaming to tabletop, anime, manga, K-pop, J-pop, comic books, cosplay, fashion, television, and film. Visitors can interact with different fan communities, get autographs and participate in panels or compete in a number of collaborative and competitive events. Some of the famous faces that have popped up at Wasabicon over the years include Josh Grelle, Mark Whitten, Zach Aguilar, Monica Rial, David Matranga, and Amanda Miller! Join in J/K-pop choreographies, snap a selfie with your favorite voice actor, chat with cosplay artists, dine at a maid cafe and shop exclusive merchandise. Bring the whole group to Wasabicon for an event that has something for every visitor’s ‘nerdy’ self.

Sea and Sky Airshow

Florida and its wealth of wildlife and diverse, verdant biomes also makes for a strong appreciation of the outdoors, and what better place to witness this than at the Sea and Sky Airshow? Pilots of the esteemed United States Navy Blue Angels, local veterans, and civilian teams put on a captivating and beautiful display of flight and stunts over the waters. Visit displays of aircraft, military, and offroad vehicles and learn about Jacksonville’s heritage trekking the skies, swamps, and seas. Live music and games are also a staple of the event. For an experience by the sea making the most of Jacksonville’s strong sense of community and the soft North Florida autumn air, come to the Sea and Sky Airshow!

Spooktacular at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

This is a great option for families, with a spooky (but not too spooky) Halloween bash for over thirty-three years, the Spooktacular at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens! Here, the most eccentric inhabitants of Jacksonville and the zoo come together once again with the longstanding vision of inspiring and educating the community, a place where visitors can celebrate the holiday while learning about animals. Duck races, hay mazes, dance parties, photo ops, scare zones (for the brave), and rare looks into the nighttime routines of the residents of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens are just some of the things visitors can do at Spooktacular. And of course, costumes and trick-or-treating. Bring the family and your costumes to celebrate Halloween with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for a unique holiday experience.
