Winter Tours on the High Line
Enjoy sightseeing and one of New York City’s most unique parks, a reclaimed railway! The view from this elevated, repurposed section of the track provides a one-of-a-kind perspective along New York City’s streets, and visitors can tour it all in one of the Winter Tours, regularly offered throughout the holiday season by the park staff at the High Line. Come take a stroll and see New York City in a walk-up above at the High Line.
While not specifically a holiday, one of New York City’s largest events of the season can’t be ignored when the excitement and energy fill the nearby Javits Center. Anime NYC is New York City and one of the tri-state area’s premier events in all things pop culture. Anime, Manga, Comic, Film, Gaming, Tabletop and fans of Japanese Culture combine in this massive event, where the fan community shares their love of Japanese media. Aside from the massive selection of activities including gaming tournaments, cosplay meetups, screenings, and shopping for exclusive copies of manga, famous artists and voice actors also make appearances at Anime NYC, adding to the excitement! Enjoy live music, spectacular costume design, interacting with your favorite artists and designers, and find something for everyone at this truly giant event.
Crafts and Classes at the Yards
Throughout the holiday season, residents and those staying in the Hudson Yards area will be delighted to know that there is a series of classes held on location at Hudson Yards! Hudson Yards offers regular painting classes at the shed throughout the holiday season, but it is the consideration put into each class that makes this a truly noteworthy experience. Complete beginners and professional painters can participate in painting their own work, and admission includes a drink. There are also drawing classes instructed by the New York Academy of Art, and classes in knitting and crocheting! A great way to make yourself something to stay warm during the New York City winter. Supplies are included with admission, so no need to worry about hunting down supplies before signing up for any of these classes. This is great for singles to meet people, couples as a date or groups as a fun activity, usually occurring on evenings but on different days throughout the week, giving the flexibility to travel itineraries or space needed in the week for other plans.
